Bolusing

Rumitag Bolus

We believe that the bolus is the most fraud proof and effective way of identifying farm animals. The bolus sits in the reticulum of the ruminant and has a proven retention rate of 99.8% in cattle and 100% in sheep (UK trials). Shearwell Data Ltd is currently trialing a small bolus that will go into lambs.

The standard bolus is suitable for cattle and sheep over 36kg. It is administered by an applicator that is placed over the back of the tongue and squeezed to release the bolus. The ruminant then swallows this naturally.
