Shearwell Data Limited was formed in 1990, primarily to provide animal identification solutions for farmers. This includes the manufacture of ear tags for cattle, sheep and pigs, the development of farm management software for beef and sheep farmers, electronic identification systems for livestock and a web based database for data storage, transfer and comparison.

Shearwell Data Limited is based on a working sheep farm on Exmoor. It combines the benefits of working in a friendly, growing high-technology business with the advantages of living in a rural environment. Shearwell is a privately owned company, employing 30 people, and currently going through a phase of expansion.
