Stock registrations on your mobile phone

Mobile phone with
StockMove Express™ installed

A new application developed by Shearwell Data Ltd allows anyone involved with the movement of livestock; farmers, hauliers, markets, abattoirs, etc to record statutory movement notification using nothing more than a Nokia mobile phone.

The application, called StockMove Express, has been designed to run on the Nokia Series 40 mobile phone and enables the farmer to record birth and movement registrations whilst in the field. An optional handy stick reader developed by Shearwell Data allows the mobile to read EID ear tags, saving time and effort entering tag numbers. Once the request has been entered into the phone, it transmits the request via the National Livestock Management Database (NLMD) to the BCMS CTS service, creating records that are required both now and in the future.

StockMove Express has been primarily designed to record animal data in the field. Using the optional screens for EID, StockMove Express provides the next step in EID functionality. Tag numbers can be easily recorded using the phone's keypad or via a wave of the stick reader wand. Where EID is already in use producers and associated industries are able to scan the tag numbers using a reader and copy the tag numbers from the reader to the mobile phone.

This information is sent via the mobile network to the NLMD, Shearwell's secure data storage facility, for onward transmission to the CTS.

This new development provides a fast, effective and economical way to perform stock movements electronically in the field without having to return to the office to access the farm computer.
