Farm records on their own have limited value. The NLMD is a specialised tool for farmers that takes farm records and by combining them with other producers in a similar group, can give detailed analysis of performance for the farmer on a confidential basis, assisting the farmer in decisions on animal husbandry and treatments, and giving the farmer more power in the marketplace.

The NLMD, combined with EID technology, can give the farmer improved tracability and allow the farmer to monitor stock from the farm to the table throughout production.

Individual farmers can use the NLMD to store a backup of their farm data. This data can be used, confidentially, in aggregate reports to give an overiew of performance and to assist the farmer in making management decisions on the farm. Data held in the NLMD is accessible only by the individual farmer and cannot be seen by competitors or any other party.
